A message from J.R.

Hello! I'm J.R; and among other things, I write action/adventure novels. The series comprising The Shadowfast Supercar Driver Logs is about a young man growing up in one of the wilder parts of 1970s America, who decides to emulate the comic book heroes of his childhood. He does this by building himself a very special car, with which to confront his foes and circumstances.

These books offer one major difference from most other action/adventure novels on the market today, for they were inspired by real people and real events; people and events from my own life, actually. For I was that young man; I did grow up in a place many called 'Little Chicago', due to its extreme lawlessness; I did build myself a special car; and I did perform my share of derring-do with the machine.

I waited nearly 30 years before publishing these stories. Partly because I was an actual outlaw in those days (at least in some ways). Too, if the experiences of others are any indication, it's safest to divulge such things as these only in your old age.

My other books are science fiction. 'Hard' science fiction: which means they are as scientifically plausible as I could make them. I spent roughly a decade researching likely progress in future technologies and related events, as a foundation for those tales. I published that research compilation separately online, in How advances in technology may reshape humanity.

As my real life often seemed surreal and even science fiction-like after my supercar days, I felt comfortable letting the same thing happen to my alter ego too. So in some ways, the books of The Chance of a Realtime can be considered to be the further adventures of Jerry Staute from The Shadowfast Supercar Driver Logs.

I hope you enjoy browsing my web site and reading my books. You can find out more about me here, or send me an email if you like. I appreciate your feedback and support!

Sincerely yours,
